The fate of Gotham City all hinges on Harley Quinn in her final pursuit to apprehend Starlet before she could commit her last act of revenge.
I think what’s great about this issue is the writing and growth of Harley Quinn as a character within this series and within the White Knight-Verse that Sean Gordon Murphy created. Harley’s quest to stop Starlet is compelling due to Collins ability to showcase the parallels between what Harley once was in her heyday, and contrasting that with Starlet’s own character. The story itself is fantastic, showcasing the relationship that Harley has cultivated with the GTO, and Batman, the parallel between Harley and Officer Hector as two characters victim to abusive relationships, and potential of what Harley could be as a character within this world. It’s a tightly written story that handles character just as much as plot, and does as much service to the world-building of this ever-evolving White Knight-Verse.
Scalera’s displays amazing artwork that contains fantastic layouts that really makes the book shine. Coupled with Dave Stewart’s colors and Andworld Design’s lettering, the book just feels balanced. Admittedly i have only one minor complaint, which is due to a panel on one of the pages that could have been more visible with brighter colors, just to see the crowd within the shot, but it doesn’t detract from the rest of the great work that is delivered within this final issue of this series. I definitely recommend this book for this week’s pull list.
Side note: I know I’ve been gone for a quite sometime on this page during the pandemic of 2020. I’ve been pretty busy as of late. I’ve been writing my reviews primarily at the Fanboy Factor website which you can find here: https://fanboyfactor.com/author/anthony-andujar/
I’ll be posting my reviews on here as well in case of anything. I hope you are all doing well and reading comics, keeping sane and enjoying some inner peace during these challenging times. Don’t forget to be kind to one another. We’re all that we got. See ya next week!
