Blog12 June 7,2014 CityScape: Scouting for a real GothamCity by Anthony Andujar Jr

Since March I've been traveling around parts of Washington Heights, West St, TriBeCa, ChinaTown, and other places while snapping photos with my cell phone. Usually I would take photos of places for future reference for when I illustrate or design environments based on or inspired by the places that I snapped pictures of. My friend Darien.Y. showed me around parts of WashingtonHeights, while my buddy Kyle.G. And I would have days where we would just walk around parts of the city. Every chance that I've had at walking around places, I would search, In hopes to get as much photo reference as possible to capture the true essence of the DC comic's Character: Batman.
Since I was young, much of the places that I've been surrounded by tended to have a mixture of ancient, medieval, gothic, urban, modern and cutting edge architecture/design. Although New York City is the back drop for the Marvel Comics Characters such as  Spider-Man, I felt that most of New York is much more of Batman's territory than the wall crawler. While I may have gone all "Peter Parker" taking photos, my main interest was drawing whatever essence that these environments give off. Here are some examples of the photos that I've taken.
Note: I had trouble uploading the photos from my cell phone. As an alternative  I Copied and pasted my deviantart photography gallery link at the bottom of this paragraph. I hope you're all able to see the photos in any way possible, just to get an idea of the imagery that I hoped to deliver.(Okay, so there was no way for myself to upload the photos, so I did a snapshot of what would have been shown. Darn internet/phone) Photos by Anthony Andujar jr.
