Aww damn. I just found out from comicbookcast2. RIP to Darwyn Cooke. A legendary comic book artist who really showed appreciation for The Golden and Silver Age of comic books and showcased that passion and love by creating the classic Justice League : New Frontier which was adapted into an animated movie back in 2008. Cooke was responsible for the story board for the Intro music animation for Batman Beyond the animated series in addition to story boarding the 90s Batman the animated series and Superman the animated series.
I used to (and still do) watch the documentary of New Frontier and how Cooke really took a crack at what made the characters of the DC universe so appealing back in the golden , silver , and modern age of comics and managed to incorporate that love by combining non fictional history such as the arms race, space race and social commentary such as the civil rights movement, Vietnam and the development of technology and culture through the the 40's , 50's, and 60's .
I always admired his art style. It was simple yet unique. I always associated John Romita Jr., Bruce Timm and Jack Kirby in terms of that specific style that was cartoony yet very expressive , stylistic and sequential to the stories that he would both write and illustrate. The literary and comic book world definitely lost a great legend, talent and scholar. He finally made it to the New Frontier after all. was making a tribute on my iphone using sketchbook x. Unfortunately my iphone was acting up. So i tried to salvage the image with my LG phone. #darwyncooke #jlnewfrontier #justiceleaguenewfrontier #batmanbeyond #antdujar94 #antdujar #anthonyandujarjr. #sketchbookx #sketchbookexpress #comicbooks #dccomics #tribute #illustration #digitalillustration #batman
